Ophthalmology at SƏHHƏT Clinic

Ophthalmology is the field of medicine that deals with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of eye diseases.

When should you check your vision?

Many people think they see well and therefore do not feel the need for an eye exam. However, good vision does not necessarily mean a completely healthy visual system.

Intraocular pressure, corneal thickness, retinal condition, and other indicators can only be evaluated by an ophthalmologist during diagnostic tests. These help determine whether there is a serious problem.

The earlier a disease is detected, the greater the chance of successful treatment. This is why ophthalmologists recommend a preventive vision check at least once a year, even if there are no complaints.

Who should undergo preventive eye exams?

  • Pregnant women and those planning pregnancy

  • Children (mandatory check-ups at 1, 6, 12 months, at 3 years, before school, and annually at school)

  • People with nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism

  • Adults over 40–50 years old (risk of cataract, glaucoma, retinal dystrophy increases)

  • Patients with hypertension or diabetes (these conditions can negatively affect vision)

Computer diagnostics allow eye diseases to be detected at the earliest stages and help prevent complications.

Attention! You should see an ophthalmologist if you experience:

  • Redness and tearing of the eyes

  • Swelling of the eyelids

  • Changes in iris color

  • Double vision

  • Eye pain

  • Flashes or black/gray spots in front of the eyes

  • Colored halos around light sources

  • Blurred or unclear vision

  • Loss of peripheral vision

  • Redness around the eyes

  • Poor night vision

  • Light sensitivity

  • A sensation of a “veil” in front of the eyes
